TOKYO — Lexus has announced officially the launch of its limited-edition LFA Nurburgring package, which Toyota's premium brand says is "designed to appeal to customers seeking full-blooded track performance."
Images and details of the package were leaked earlier this month.
Lexus said the new package will be limited to just 50 cars, out of the LFA's total production run of 500 units. The package is being offered, it said, "in celebration of LFA's entry in the Nurburgring 24 Hours race" and is aimed at "hard-core track driving enthusiasts."
The key elements include enhanced aerodynamics and downforce, thanks in part to a fixed rear wing, a larger front spoiler and fin-type side spoilers, all made from carbon fiber. The suspension also has been retuned and mesh-type wheels fitted with high-grip rubber.
Output has been increased by 10 horsepower and shift changes cut to 0.15 second. Lexus says 0-60-mph acceleration is trimmed to less than 3.7 seconds and top speed bumped to 202 mph.
Lexus will provide those 50 lucky customers with individual driving lessons on the Nordschleife from the Nurburgring's own instructors, as well as a one-year driving pass to the German track.
